The discourse on the explanation of His statement, the Exalted: وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَخْسَرُ الْمُبْطِلُونَ (And to Allah belongs the dominion over the heavens and the earth; and on the Day when the Hour arrives, on that Day the adherents of falsehood will lose) (27).

He, exalted is His mention, says: And to Allah belongs the dominion over the seven heavens and the earth, not to that which you ascribe to Him as a partner and that which you worship besides Him. And that which you call upon besides Him among gods and equals is within His kingdom and His dominion, and His decree over it is in force. How then can that which is so be a partner to Him? Or how can you worship it, while you abandon the worship of your Owner, the Owner of that which you worship besides Him? وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ — He, exalted is His mention, says: and on the Day when the Hour comes, on which Allah raises the dead from their graves and gathers them for the station of being called to account. يَخْسَرُ الْمُبْطِلُونَ — He says: on that Day those will lose who in the worldly life adhered to falsehood in their utterances and in their claim that Allah had a partner and in their worship of gods besides Him; in that the possessors of truth will attain their dwelling-places in Paradise, and they [the adherents of falsehood] will exchange those places for dwelling-places in the Fire that had been destined for the possessors of truth.

Thus their [dwelling-places in the Fire] were assigned to them in place of their dwelling-places in Paradise; that is the manifest loss.
