[They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers."

And His word rabbanā ikshif ʿannā al-ʿadhāb ("Our Lord, remove the punishment from us") — He means that the unbelievers who are afflicted by that hardship turn imploringly to their Lord, asking Him to remove that hardship from them, and they say: Truly, if You remove it, we will believe in You and worship You, to the exclusion of every worshipped being besides You — as He, exalted is His praise, has reported concerning them: rabbanā ikshif ʿannā al-ʿadhāba innā muʾminūn ("Our Lord, remove the punishment from us; truly, we are believers").
