Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability.

(أَوْ نُرِيَنَّكَ الَّذِي وَعَدْنَاهُمْ) (Or that We show you what We have promised them) — for Allah has indeed shown him that and made it manifest concerning him. This second interpretation is, of the two interpretations, the most correct one herein, and that is because this occurs in the context of Allah's report about the polytheists (mushrikīn); so that it is a threat against them is more likely than that it would be a warning to someone of whom there has been no mention. The meaning of the words, since it is thus, is: if We take you away, O Muḥammad, from among these polytheists and remove you from their midst, (فَإِنَّا مِنْهُمْ مُنْتَقِمُونَ) (then We shall take vengeance upon them), just as We have done with others than them among the communities that denied their messengers.
(أَوْ نُرِيَنَّكَ الَّذِي وَعَدْنَاهُمْ) — or that We show you, O Muḥammad, what We have promised them of victory over them and your exaltation above them, (فَإِنَّا عَلَيْهِمْ مُقْتَدِرُونَ) (then We are over them powerful) to make you triumph over them and to humiliate them by your hand and the hands of those who believe in you.
