And His statement: ( and in them you have benefits ) — this is that He has made for you from their hides tents which you find light on the day of your departure and on the day of your dwelling, and from their wool, their fur, and their hair household goods and articles of use for a time.
And His statement: ( and that upon them you might attain a need that resides in your breasts ) He says: and that, by loading burdens upon some of them — namely the camels — you might attain a need that resides in your breasts which you would not have attained without them except with great hardship to yourselves, as the Exalted, whose praise is exalted, has said: And they carry your burdens to a land that you would not have reached except with great hardship to yourselves . And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His statement: ( and that upon them you might attain a need that resides in your breasts ) he means the camels which carry your burdens to a land.
Al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid: ( and that upon them you might attain a need that resides in your breasts ) — for your need, whatever it may have been. And His statement: ( and upon them ) He means: and upon these camels and what resembles them of rideable livestock, ( and upon the ships ) He means: and upon the vessels ( you are carried ) He says: We carry you upon these on the land, and upon those on the sea.
