1. Full Dutch translation of Tabari's text

   His statement Inna hādhā la-rizqunā mā lahu min nafād ("Truly, this is Our provision; there is no end to it") — the Exalted, whose praise is to be remembered, says: truly, this which We have given to these God-fearing ones in the Gardens of Eden — abundant fruits and drink, and the women with lowered gaze (al-qāṣirāt al-ṭarf) — and that We have established them therein to attain the delights and everything their souls desired therein, is truly Our provision, which We have bestowed upon them therein as an honor from Us to them. Mā lahu min nafād ("there is no end to it") — He says: it is not cut off for them and it does not perish, and that is because every time they pluck a fruit from the fruits of one of its trees and eat it, another fruit of the same kind returns in its place. That remains for them continuously and forever; it is not cut off as that which the people of this world were given in the world was cut off, for that ceased through perishability and ran out through consumption.

   And in accordance with what we have said concerning this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

   Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Aḥmad ibn al-Mufaḍḍal related to us, saying: Asbāṭ related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī: Inna hādhā la-rizqunā mā lahu min nafād — he said: the provision of Paradise, every time something is taken from it, something of the same kind returns in its place, whereas the provision of this world has an end.

   Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: Mā lahu min nafād — that is to say: it has no cutting off.

   وقوله ( إِنَّ هَذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُ مِنْ نَفَادٍ ) يقول تعالى ذكره: إن هذا الذي أعطينا هؤلاء المتقين في جنَّات عدن من الفاكهة الكثيرة والشراب, والقاصرات الطرف, ومكنَّاهم فيها من الوصول إلى اللّذات وما اشْتهته فيها أنفسهم لرزقنا, رزقناهم فيها كرامة منا لهم ( مَا لَهُ مِنْ نَفَادٍ ) يقول: ليس له عنهم انقطاع ولا له فناء, وذلك أنهم كلما أخذوا ثمرة من ثمار شجرة من أشجارها, فأكلوها, عادت مكانها أخرى مثلها, فذلك لهم دائم أبدا, لا ينقطع انقطاع ما كان أهل الدنيا أوتوه فى الدنيا, فانقطع بالفناء, ونَفِد بالإنفاد. وبنحو الذي قلنا في ذلك قال أهل التأويل. * ذكر من قال ذلك: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين, قال: ثنا أحمد بن المفضل, قال: ثنا أسباط, عن السديّ( إِنَّ هَذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُ مِنْ نَفَادٍ ) قال: رزق الجنة, كلما أخذ منه شيء عاد مثله مكانه, ورزق الدنيا له نفاد. حدثنا بشر, قال: ثنا يزيد, قال: ثنا سعيد, عن قتادة ( مَا لَهُ مِنْ نَفَادٍ ) : أي ما له انقطاع.
