The discourse on the explanation of His statement, the Exalted: وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ — "And indeed, Nūḥ called upon Us, and how excellent were We as Responders" (37:75).
The Exalted, whose praise is mentioned, says: indeed, Nūḥ called upon Us with his request to Us for the destruction of his people, and he said: رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلا وَنَهَارًا * فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلا فِرَارًا — ("My Lord, indeed I called my people night and day, but my calling only increased them in flight") ... up to His statement رَبِّ لا تَذَرْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا — ("My Lord, leave not upon the earth a single inhabitant of the disbelievers (al-kāfirīn)"). And His statement ( فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ ) says: how excellent were We as Responders to him when he called upon Us, for We answered his supplication and destroyed his people.
