Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.

His statement ( ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لإلَى الْجَحِيمِ ) — "Then their return is truly to the Hellfire" — the Exalted, whose praise is mentioned, says: then their destination and their final end is truly to the Hellfire (al-jaḥīm).
As Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning his statement ( ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لإلَى الْجَحِيمِ ): they are in the burden and the punishment of the fire of Hell (jahannam). And he recited this verse: يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ آنٍ — ("They go round between it and boiling, scalding water").
Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Aḥmad related to us, saying: Asbāṭ related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī, concerning his statement ( ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لإلَى الْجَحِيمِ ), he said: in the recitation of ʿAbd Allāh it reads: "Then their place of return is truly to the Hellfire." And ʿAbd Allāh used to say: by Him in whose hand my soul is, on the Day of Resurrection the midday will not pass before the people of Paradise will already have taken their midday rest in Paradise (janna), and the people of the Fire in the Fire. Then he said: أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَيْرٌ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَأَحْسَنُ مَقِيلا — ("The inhabitants of Paradise on that Day will have a better abode and a fairer resting-place").
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said, concerning his statement ( ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لإلَى الْجَحِيمِ ), he said: their death.
