Then for Our punishment are they impatient?

And His saying أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ ("Do they then seek to hasten Our punishment?") — He says: it is the descent of Our punishment (ʿadhāb) upon them that they wish to hasten from you, O Muḥammad. That is their saying to the Prophet: مَتَى هَذَا الْوَعْدُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ ("When will this promise come to pass, if you are truthful?").
