His statement أَلا إِنَّهُمْ مِنْ إِفْكِهِمْ ("Truly, on account of their lie") — the Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: Truly, these polytheists (mushrikīn), on account of their mendacity, declare لَيَقُولُونَ وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ ("they surely say: Allah has begotten — and truly, they are liars") in that claim of theirs.

As Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda أَلا إِنَّهُمْ مِنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ , he says: on account of their mendacity.
