The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا (45) O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness, as a bringer of glad tidings, and as a warner (45)
He, exalted is His mention, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: O Muḥammad, ( إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا ) indeed We have sent you as a witness over your community, in that you convey to them that with which We have sent you of the Message, and as one who brings them the glad tidings of the Garden (janna) if they hold you to be truthful and act according to what you have brought them from your Lord, (وَنَذِيرًا) and as a warner against the Fire (al-nār), so that they do not enter it and thereby be punished, if they declare you a liar and contradict what you have brought them from Allah.
And with what we have said concerning this the exegetes have spoken.
