The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: And if you were to ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they would surely say: "Allah." Say: "All praise belongs to Allah." But most of them do not know (31:25).
The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: and if you, O Muḥammad, were to ask these polytheists (mushrikīn) who associate partners with Allah from among your people: Who created the heavens and the earth, they would surely say: "Allah." Say: "All praise belongs to Allah." The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says to His prophet Muḥammad: when they say that, then say to them: all praise belongs to Allah, who created that, not to him who creates nothing while they themselves are created. Then the Exalted, whose praise is exalted, said: But most of them do not know. He says: but most of these polytheists do not know to whom the praise belongs, and where the place of thankfulness is.
