The explanation of the words of the Exalted: (23) (And among His signs is your sleep by night and day, and your seeking of His bounty. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who hear.) (23)
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: And among His proofs for you, O people, is His determining of the hours and the appointed times, and His making a distinction between the night and the day. He made the night for you a repose, in which you find rest and in which you sleep, and He made the day illuminated, so that you may move about in it for your livelihood and seek therein the provision of your Lord.
(Indeed, in that are signs for a people who hear). The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: indeed, in Allah's acting in this manner there are lessons, admonitions, and proofs that the One who does this is prevented by nothing from that which He wills, لِقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ (for a people who hear) the admonitions of Allah, and who let themselves be admonished thereby and take a lesson from it, so that they may understand the proofs of Allah against them.
