But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards, and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.

وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَاللَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الظَّالِمِينَ ("And as for those who believed and performed righteous deeds, He will give them their rewards in full; and Allah does not love the wrongdoers")
Concerning His word "And as for those who believed and performed righteous deeds": He — exalted is His mention — means: and as for those who believed in you, O ʿĪsā — He says: they affirmed you as truthful — and thus acknowledged your prophethood, and that which you brought to them from Me of truth, and who profess the islam with which I sent you, and who acted according to what I imposed of obligations upon your tongue, and what I prescribed of laws, and what I instituted of practices. As in:
7156 — Al-Muthannā related to me, saying: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His word "and performed righteous deeds," he says: they fulfilled My obligations.

= "He will give them their rewards in full." He says: He will give them the recompense for their righteous deeds completely, without anything of it being withheld from them or diminished.

Concerning His word "and Allah does not love the wrongdoers": He means: and Allah does not love whoever unjustly deprives another of a right that is due to him, or places something in a place where it does not belong.
By this He — exalted is His praise — has denied of Himself that He wrongs His servants, by giving the evildoer among them who is a disbeliever the same recompense as the doers of good among them who believe in Him, or by giving the doer of good among them who believed in Him and followed His command and abstained from what He forbade and thus obeyed Him, the same recompense as the evildoers among them who disbelieved in Him and denied His messengers and opposed His command and prohibition. Thus He said: Indeed, I do not love the wrongdoers, so how then would I wrong My creation?

This word of Allah — exalted is His mention —, even though it is delivered in the form of an announcement, is a threat from Him to those who disbelieve in Him and in His messengers, and a promise from Him to those who believe in Him and in His messengers. For He has informed both groups together that He does not withhold from this believer his right, nor wrong his honor by placing it with whoever disbelieved in Him and opposed His command and prohibition, such that by placing it with one to whom it is not due He would be a wrongdoer.

(15) In the printed edition it reads: "as if it were a threat from Him," and that is a clear error; the manuscript could not be read properly due to the poor handwriting of the copyist.
(16) In the manuscript it reads: "and a threat from Him to the believers," and that is a clear error; the correct reading is what is in the printed edition.
