إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُمْ — "Indeed, your Lord will judge between them" — that is to say: indeed, your Lord will judge between the differing parties among the Children of Israel with His verdict over them, and He will punish the one among them who is in the wrong and reward the one who acts rightly and is in the right with his reward. وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْعَلِيمُ — "And He is the Almighty, the All-Knowing" — that is to say: your Lord is almighty (ʿazīz) in His punishment of whoever is in the wrong among them and among others. No one is able to restrain Him when He punishes. The All-Knowing (al-ʿAlīm) knows the one who acts rightly and is in the right among these differing parties of the Children of Israel and their points of dispute, as well as the one among them and others who is in the wrong and has strayed from the straight path.
