[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.

He, Whose praise is exalted, says — while informing about the supplication of His beloved Ibrāhīm to Him: رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا (My Lord, grant me wisdom) — he says: my Lord, grant me prophethood. وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ (And join me with the righteous) — he says: and make me a messenger to Your creation, so that thereby You may join me to the ranks of those whom You have sent as Your messengers to Your creation, to whom You have entrusted Your revelation, and whom You have chosen for Yourself.
