Tafseer of The Poets · Ash-Shu'araa · 26:6

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.

    Allah, exalted be His mention, says: These polytheists have, O Muḥammad, denied the reminder that came to them from Allah and turned their backs upon it. فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنْبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ (Soon there will come to them the tidings of what they used to mock) — that is to say: the tidings will reach them concerning the matter that they ridiculed and mocked; and this is a warning from Allah to them that He will cause His punishment to descend upon them on account of their persistence in disbelief and their rebellion against their Lord.

    يقول تعالى ذكره: فقد كذب يا محمد هؤلاء المشركون بالذكر الذي أتاهم من عند الله, وأعرضوا عنه ( فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنْبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ ) يقول: فسيأتيهم أخبار الأمر الذي كانوا يسخرون منه, وذلك وعيد من الله لهم أنه محلّ بهم عقابه على تماديهم في كفرهم, وتمرّدهم على ربهم.
