So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.

فَأَلْقَى عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُبِينٌ (So he cast down his staff, and behold, it was a manifest serpent) — the Exalted, in His glorification, says: Mūsā cast down his staff and it turned into a thuʿbān — that is the male serpent — as I have already expounded its characteristics earlier. And His word مُبِينٌ (manifest) — He said: it made manifest to Pharaoh and the notables of his people that it was a serpent.
And what we have said concerning this is the very same that the people of interpretation said.
