فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ

So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished.

    Allah, exalted is His praise, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: فَلَا تَدْعُ — do not call upon, O Muḥammad, مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ — that is to say: do not worship alongside Him any deity other than Him, فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ — otherwise a punishment will descend upon you just as it descended upon those who transgressed Our command and worshipped others than Us.

    يقول تعالى ذكره لنبيه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم: (فَلا تَدْعُ) يا محمد (مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ) أي لا تعبد معه معبودا غيره (فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ) فينـزل بك من العذاب ما نـزل بهؤلاء الذين خالفوا أمرنا وعبدوا غيرنا.
