Allah, the Exalted, says: Then We destroyed the rest of the people of Lūṭ by annihilation. (And We rained down upon them a rain) — and that was Allah's sending upon them stones of baked clay (sijjīl) from the sky. (How evil was the rain of those who had been warned!) — that is to say: how wretched was that rain — the rain of the people who had been warned by their prophet and had denied him as a liar.
