Tafseer of The Light · An-Noor · 24:48

وَإِذَا دُعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِذَا فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ

And when they are called to [the words of] Allah and His Messenger to judge between them, at once a party of them turns aside [in refusal].

    And His statement: وَإِذَا دُعُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ — when these hypocrites are called to the Book of Allah and to His Messenger, لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ — so that he may render judgment in that which they dispute among themselves in accordance with the judgment of Allah, إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ — then a group of them turns away from accepting the truth and from being content with the verdict of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

    وقوله: ( وَإِذَا دُعُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ) يقول: وإذا دعي هؤلاء المنافقون إلى كتاب الله وإلى رسوله ( لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ ) فيما اختصموا فيه بحكم الله ( إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِنْهُمْ مُعْرِضُونَ ) عن قبول الحقّ، والرضا بحكم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم.
