نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ — he said: We increase the good for them, We grant them respite — he said: this is [addressed] to the Quraysh.
Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Mujāhid — the same.
Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAlī related to me, saying: Ashʿath ibn ʿAbd Allāh related to me, saying: Shuʿba related to us, on the authority of Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, who said: I asked ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakra about the word of Allah: نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ فِي الْخَيْرَاتِ — he said: [it means:] Our supporting of them hastens to the good deeds for them. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakra had apparently interpreted his reading of this in such a way that the meaning is: Our supporting of them with possessions and sons hastens to the good deeds for them.
