So leave them in their confusion for a time.

Abū Jaʿfar says: The Exalted — exalted be His remembrance — says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: So leave then, O Muḥammad, those who have divided their affair among themselves into books, فِي غَمْرَتِهِمْ — in their error and blindness — حَتَّى حِينٍ — that is to say: until the appointed term that will come upon them, at which My punishment will descend upon them.
The exegetes also agree with what we have said.

Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Mujāhid: فَذَرْهُمْ فِي غَمْرَتِهِمْ حَتَّى حِينٍ — he said: in their error.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His word: فَذَرْهُمْ فِي غَمْرَتِهِمْ حَتَّى حِينٍ — he said: al-ghamra is the flood [that covers everything].
