Allah, the Exalted, says: They said: Ṣāliḥ is merely a man who has invented a lie about Allah in his statement: مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ (You have no god other than Him), and in his promise to you that when you have died and become dust and bones, you will be brought forth. And the word هُوَ refers to the messenger, namely Ṣāliḥ. وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُ بِمُؤْمِنِينَن (And we are not believers in him) — that is to say: we do not acknowledge him as truthful in what he says, namely that there is no god for us other than Allah, and in what he promises us concerning the resurrection after death.
