And His word: قَالَ رَبِّ انْصُرْنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ (He said: My Lord, help me because of what they have denied me) — He says: Ṣāliḥ spoke, after he had despaired that his people would believe in Allah and that they would affirm him — on account of their word: وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ (and we are no believers in it) —: "My Lord, help me against these people because of what they have denied me." He says: because of their denial of me in that to which I have called them, namely the truth. Thus he — may the peace of Allah be upon him — called upon his Lord for help because of their evil toward him and their denial of him.
