So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another.

The exegetes of the Qurʾān differed concerning the meaning of His word: فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ (And when the Trumpet is blown) — as to which of the two blowings is meant by it. Some said: the first blowing.
*Mention of those who said that:
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Ḥakkām ibn Salm related to us, saying: ʿAmr ibn Muṭarrif related to us, on the authority of al-Minhāl ibn ʿAmr, on the authority of Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, that a man came to Ibn ʿAbbās and said: I heard Allah say: فَلا أَنْسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ (Then there will be no ties of kinship between them on that day) ... the verse, and He said in another verse: وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ (And they turn to one another, questioning each other). To this Ibn ʿAbbās answered: As for His word: فَلا أَنْسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ — that is at the first blowing, when nothing remains upon the earth, when there are no longer any ties of kinship between them, and they do not question one another nor visit one another to ask about their circumstances and lineage. As for His word: وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ — that is when they enter the Garden and turn to one another and question each other.
Ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: Abū Aḥmad related to us, saying: Sufyān related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī, concerning His word: فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَلا أَنْسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ , he said: at the first blowing.
ʿAlī related to us, saying: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His word: فَلا أَنْسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ — that is when the Trumpet is blown, so that no living being remains except Allah. And وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ — that is when they are awakened at the second blowing.
Abū Jaʿfar said: The meaning of this, according to this interpretation, is: And when the Trumpet is blown, so that all who are in the heavens and on the earth fall down stunned, except whom Allah wills — then there are no longer any ties of kinship between them by which they are joined, and they do not question one another, nor visit one another, nor ask about each other's circumstances and lineage.
Others said: No, by this the second blowing is meant.
*Mention of those who said that:
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Ibn Fuḍayl related to us, on the authority of Hārūn ibn Abī Wakīʿ, who said: I heard Zādhān say: I went to Ibn Masʿūd, and the people had gathered at his house; I found no place to sit, and I said: O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, are you despising me because I am a stranger? He said: Come closer! He said: I drew near to him, so that there was no one left sitting between us, and he said: On the Day of Resurrection the hand of the slave (ʿabd) or the slave-woman (ama) is seized, before the gaze of the former and the latter generations. Then a herald calls out: Know, this is So-and-so, the son of So-and-so; whoever has a claim against him, let him come and demand his right. And the woman then rejoices that she has a claim against her son, or against her father, or against her brother, or against her husband — فَلا أَنْسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ .
Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: ʿĪsā ibn Yūnus related to us, on the authority of Hārūn ibn ʿAnṭara, on the authority of Zādhān, who said: I heard Ibn Masʿūd say: On the Day of Resurrection the slave or the slave-woman is taken and set down before the gaze of the former and the latter generations, whereupon a herald calls out — then he mentioned something similar, and added: Then the Lord, blessed and exalted is He, says to the slave: Give these their rights. He says: O my Lord, the world has passed away — from what then shall I give them? Then He says to the angels: Take from his good deeds and give to each person according to the measure of his claim. If then anything remains — even the weight of a mustard seed — Allah multiplies it for him until he enters the Garden thereby. Then Ibn Masʿūd recited: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ وَإِنْ تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُضَاعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِنْ لَدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا (Indeed Allah does not wrong even as much as the weight of an atom; and if it is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from His own presence a great reward). And if the slave was wretched, the angels say: O Lord, his good deeds are exhausted and there are still many claimants. Then He says: Take from their evil deeds and add them to his evil deeds, and write him a deed to the Fire.
He said: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me: فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَلا أَنْسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلا يَتَسَاءَلُونَ — he said: On that day no one asks anything for himself on account of his lineage, they do not question one another, and no one can invoke blood-kinship.
Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Kathīr related to me, on the authority of Ḥafṣ ibn al-Mughīra, on the authority of Qatāda, who said: On the Day of Resurrection there is nothing that man hates more than to see who shuns him, out of fear that he might demand a debt from him. Then he recited: يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ * وَأُمِّهِ وَأَبِيهِ * وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَبَنِيهِ * لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ (The day when man flees from his brother, and his mother and his father, and his consort and his children — each one of them that day has enough concern of his own to occupy him).
He said: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: al-Ḥakam ibn Sinān related to us, on the authority of Sudūs, the companion of al-Sāʾirī, on the authority of Anas ibn Mālik, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When the people of the Garden enter the Garden and the people of the Fire enter the Fire, a herald calls out from among the people of the Throne: O you people who have wronged one another, settle your mutual affairs and then enter the Garden."
