The exposition of the exegesis of the word of Allah the Exalted: يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَدْ أَنْجَيْنَاكُمْ مِنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ ... (verse 80) — [continuation, concerning the going astray of Pharaoh]
وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُ وَمَا هَدَى — Allah, exalted be His remembrance, says: Pharaoh led his people astray from the straight path, and he made them travel along a course other than the straight one. This was because he made them tread the way of the Fire, in that he commanded them to harbor disbelief towards Allah and to deny His messengers. وَمَا هَدَى — that is to say: and he did not guide them to the straight path, for he forbade them to follow the messenger of Allah Moses and to acknowledge him as truthful; they obeyed him in that, so he did not guide them with his command, and they were not guided by following him.
