وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَلَدًۭا

And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son."

    Allah, exalted be His remembrance, says: And these who disbelieve in Allah said: اتَّخَذَ الرَّحْمَنُ وَلَدًا ("The Most Merciful has taken a child"). لَقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْئًا إِدًّا — Allah, the Exalted, says to those of His creatures who make this claim: "Verily, you people have uttered something tremendous and abominable."

    In accordance with what we have said concerning this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) also spoke.
