Allah, exalted is His mention, says: Do not break your covenants and treaties, O people — the covenants which you have concluded with those with whom you made them and which you have confirmed by your oaths — in order to seek thereby some paltry gain from the worldly life. Fulfill the covenant of Allah which He has commanded you to fulfill; Allah will reward you for it. وَمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ (And what is with Allah is better for you): that is to say, the reward which Allah has stored up in the Hereafter for those who fulfill His covenants and do not break His oaths — that is better for you than the paltry worldly gain. إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ (If you only knew): that is to say, if you know what is better for you.
