Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

His saying إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ — the Exalted says: In what We did to the people of Lot — that which We inflicted upon them — there is a clear sign and a manifest proof for whoever believes in Allah, concerning His requital of the unbelievers and His deliverance of the believers from His chastisement when it descends upon a people, while there are among them people of faith.
As Muḥammad ibn Bashshār related to us, he said: Abū Aḥmad related to us, he said: Sufyān related to us, on the authority of Simāk, on the authority of Saʿīd ibn Jubayr — concerning His saying إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَةً — he said: it is like when a man says to his family: the sign between me and you is that I send you my ring, or the sign is such and such.
Ibn Wakīʿ related to us, he said: Abū Usāma related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Simāk, on the authority of Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās — إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَةً — he said: do you not see how a man sends his ring to his family and says: receive it, receive it — and when they see it they know that it is the truth.
