His statement فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ : Allah the Exalted — blessed be His remembrance — says to Iblīs: فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ ("Depart from it, for you are a rajīm"). The rajīm is the marjūm (the stoned-outcast), transformed from the mafʿūl form to the faʿīl form; it means the repudiated/reviled one. Thus said a group of the ahl al-taʾwīl (the exegetes of the Qurʾān).
Those who said this are mentioned:
Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ — the rajīm is the accursed one.
Al-Qāsim related to us, he said: al-Ḥusayn related to us, he said: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, concerning his statement فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ : he said: accursed. And al-rajm in the Qurʾān means: reviling (the contemptuous expression).
