قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍۢ مِّنْ حَمَإٍۢ مَّسْنُونٍۢ

He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud."

    The Exalted — blessed be His remembrance — says that Iblīs spoke: لَمْ أَكُنْ لأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ ("I was by no means fit to prostrate before a human being whom You created from sounding clay, from black mud") — for he is of clay, and I am of fire, and fire consumes clay.

    يقول تعالى ذكره ( قَالَ ) إبليس: ( لَمْ أَكُنْ لأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ ) وهو من طين وأنا من نار، والنار تأكل الطين.
