Allah the Exalted says to His prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: Wa-lā taḥsabanna Allāha — O Muḥammad — ghāfilan — heedless — ʿammā yaʿmalu — these polytheists of your people; no, He knows them and their deeds and keeps account of them against them, in order to requite them at the time which in His knowledge has already been fixed for Him to requite them therein.
Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: Al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: ʿAlī ibn Thābit related to us, on the authority of Jaʿfar ibn Burqān, on the authority of Maymūn ibn Mihrān, concerning His word wa-lā taḥsabanna Allāha ghāfilan ʿammā yaʿmalu al-ẓālimūna : he said: "This is a threat to the wrongdoer and a consolation for the oppressed."

Allah the Exalted says: Your Lord, O Muḥammad, only defers these wrongdoers who deny you and reject your prophethood to a day on which the gazes are fixed in a stare. He says: He only defers their punishment and the bringing down of the torment upon them to a day on which the gazes of the creatures stiffen — and that is the Day of Judgment.
As Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: li-yawmin tashkhaṣu fīhi al-abṣāru — "The gazes therein are — by Allah — stiffened, and do not return to them again."
