He says: all praise belongs to Allah Who, in my old age, bestowed upon me the sons Ismāʿīl and Isḥāq. إِنَّ رَبِّي لَسَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ — that is to say: truly, my Lord is Hearing of my supplication which I direct to Him, and of my words: اجْعَلْ هَذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِنًا وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ الْأَصْنَامَ — and all the rest of my supplication and the supplication of others. Everything that is uttered by a speaker is not hidden from Him.
Ibn Wakīʿ related to us, saying: Ibn Fuḍayl related to us, on the authority of Ḍirār ibn Murra, who said: I heard an elderly man relating to Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, who said: Ibrāhīm was granted the good news after one hundred and seventeen years.
