This is a notification from Allah the Exalted concerning the invoking of His friend Ibrāhīm as a witness over what he intended and purposed with his supplication and his words: Rabbi ijʿal hādhā al-balada āminan wa-ijnibnī wa-baniyya an naʿbuda al-aṣnāma — the verse — and that he intended thereby solely the good pleasure of Allah, in his love that his offspring should be among those who obey Allah and devote worship exclusively to Him, just as he himself was. He said: Our Lord, You know what our hearts conceal when we ask of You what we ask of You, and in all other circumstances; and what we openly utter in our supplication and voice aloud therein, and all other deeds of ours. Nothing is hidden from You, our Lord, of anything that is on the earth nor in the heaven, for all of this is to You clear and visible and manifest, because You govern it and have created it — so how then could it be hidden from You?
