And my advice will not benefit you - although I wished to advise you - If Allah should intend to put you in error. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned."

(''And my counsel will not benefit you'') — He says: My warning to you of His punishment and the descent of His wrath upon you because of your disbelief in Him will not benefit you (''if I desire to counsel you''), by warning you against that, for my counsel will not benefit you, because you do not accept it. (''If Allah wills to lead you astray'') — He says: If Allah wills to destroy you through His punishment. (''He is your Lord, and to Him you will return'') — He says: To Him you will return after the destruction.
It is related from the tribe of Ṭayy that they say: ''So-and-so has become ghāwī'', with the meaning: he has become sick.
And it has been heard from others, directly from them: ''I led so-and-so astray'', with the meaning: I destroyed him. And ''the young camel became ghawiya'' when it lost the milk and died.
And it is mentioned that the word of Allah: فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا (''They shall soon meet ghayy'') (Surah Maryam: 59) has the meaning of: destruction.
