The explanation of the word of Allah the Exalted: وَاصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ (And be patient, for indeed Allah does not let the reward of those who do good go to waste) (115)
Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah, exalted be His mention, says: "And be patient, O Muḥammad, with what you endure from the polytheists (mushrikīn) of your people in the way of persecution for the sake of Allah and of harm, hoping for the abundant reward of Allah for that — for Allah does not let the reward of the good work of whoever does good, obeys Allah, and follows His command go to waste or vanish; rather, He will pay it out to him in full at the moment when he is most in need of it."
