وَمَا نُؤَخِّرُهُۥٓ إِلَّا لِأَجَلٍۢ مَّعْدُودٍۢ

And We do not delay it except for a limited term.

    The explanation of the interpretation of the word of Allah the Exalted: وَمَا نُؤَخِّرُهُ إِلا لأَجَلٍ مَعْدُودٍ (104)

    Abū Jaʿfar says: Allah the Exalted speaks: We do not delay the Day of Resurrection for you — that We should bring it upon you — except so that it may be completed; and He has fixed for it an appointed term, which He has counted and precisely enumerated. That day shall not come except at that very term: its coming is set neither earlier nor later.

    القول في تأويل قوله تعالى : وَمَا نُؤَخِّرُهُ إِلا لأَجَلٍ مَعْدُودٍ (104) قال أبو جعفر: يقول تعالى ذكره: وما نؤخّر يوم القيامة عنكم أن نجيئكم به إلا لأن يُقْضَى، فقضى له أجلا فعدّه وأحصَاه، فلا يأتي إلا لأجله ذلك، لا يتقدم مجيئه قبل ذلك ولا يتأخر. * * *
