His word: إِيلافِهِمْ is in the genitive as a badal (substitutive case), as if He said: "for the being accustomed of Quraysh — for their being accustomed to the journey of winter and summer." As for "the journey" (riḥlah), it is in the accusative on the basis of the word إِيلافِهِمْ, which governs it.
His word: رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ — He says: the two journeys of Quraysh: the one to Syria in the summer, and the other to Yemen in the winter.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His word رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ: "They had two journeys: in the summer to Syria, and in the winter to Yemen for trade. When it was winter, Syria kept them at a distance because of the cold, and so their journey in the winter was to Yemen."
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mahrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, concerning رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ: he said: "They were merchants."
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mahrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān; Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of al-Kalbī, concerning رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ: he said: "They had two journeys: a journey in the winter to Yemen, and a journey in the summer to Syria."
ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī related to us, saying: ʿĀmir ibn Ibrāhīm al-Aṣbahānī related to us, saying: Khaṭṭāb ibn Jaʿfar ibn Abī al-Mughīra related to us, saying: my father related to me, on the authority of Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning إِيلافِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ: he said: "They spent the winter in Mecca and passed the summer in al-Ṭāʾif."
