And they ask information of you, [O Muhammad], "Is it true?" Say, "Yes, by my Lord. Indeed, it is truth; and you will not cause failure [to Allah]."

The explanation of the meaning of the word of Allah the Exalted: وَيَسْتَنْبِئُونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَ قُلْ إِي وَرَبِّي إِنَّهُ لَحَقٌّ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ (And they ask you: "Is it the truth?" Say: "Yes, by my Lord, it is surely the truth, and you cannot escape Allah.") (53)
Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah the Exalted says: And these polytheists (mushrikīn) from among your people seek information from you, O Muḥammad (ﷺ),
and they say to you: "Is what you say the truth, and what you announce to us of the punishment (ʿadhāb) of Allah in the Hereafter as a recompense for the disobedience toward Allah that we used to commit in the worldly life?" Say to them, O Muḥammad (ﷺ): "Yes, by my Lord, it is surely the truth" — there is no doubt about it — "and you cannot escape Allah" when He wills to make this come to pass with you, neither by fleeing nor by resisting. Rather, you are within His grasp, under His dominion, and in His kingdom; when He wills to do this with you, He will do it. So fear Allah concerning yourselves.
