And His word: يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا (On that Day the people will come forth in scattered groups.) It has been said: the meaning of this word is that it stands later in the sequence, after لِيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ (so that their deeds may be shown to them). They said: and the actual ordering of the words is: on that Day she will tell her tidings, because your Lord has revealed it to her, so that their deeds may be shown to them, on that Day the people will come forth in scattered groups. They said: but He inserted this word in between.
And the meaning of His word: يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا (On that Day the people will come forth in scattered groups) is: from the place of the reckoning, as separating groups, divided from one another; the one takes the right side, toward the Garden (janna), and the other takes the left side, toward the Fire (al-nār).
And His word: لِيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ (so that their deeds may be shown to them). He says: on that Day the people come forth in scattered groups, divided, to the right and to the left, so that their deeds may be shown to them. Thus the one who did good in the worldly life and was obedient to Allah sees his deed and what Allah has prepared for him on that Day of honor, on account of his obedience to Him which he showed in the worldly life; and the one who did evil and was disobedient to Allah sees his deed and the recompense for his deed and what Allah has prepared for him of humiliation and disgrace in Hell (jahannam), on account of his disobedience to Him which he showed in the worldly life, and his disbelief in Him.
