أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى ("or enjoined godfearingness") (96:12) — or that Muḥammad, this one who forbids the prayer, enjoined the fear of Allah and the dread of His punishment.

And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes of the tafsīr spoke.

    * Mention of who said that:

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His saying: أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى * أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى ("Have you seen? If he was upon the guidance, or enjoined godfearingness") (96:11-12), he said: Muḥammad was upon the guidance and enjoined godfearingness.
