Tafseer of The Consolation · Ash-Sharh · 94:8
And to your Lord direct [your] longing.

His word: وَإِلَى رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ ("And to your Lord direct your longing") — He, exalted is His mention, says: and direct your longing, O Muḥammad, to your Lord, and not to any other among His creatures, since these polytheists (mushrikīn) from your people had directed their longing for their needs to the gods and the idols.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning وَإِلَى رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ , he said: direct your resolve and your longing to Allah.
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Wakīʿ related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning وَإِلَى رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ , he said: direct your longing and your resolve to your Lord.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us, both on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word وَإِلَى رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ , he said: when you rise for the prayer.
