And increased therein the corruption.

The statement concerning the interpretation of His word, the Exalted: فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ (12) ("and they spread much corruption therein").
The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: and they increased throughout the lands in disobedience and in committing that which Allah had forbidden them.
