And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,

His saying: وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ ("And He is the Forgiving, the Loving"). Allah, exalted is His mention, says: and He is the Possessor of forgiveness for whoever turns to Him in repentance from his sins, and the Possessor of love for him.
And in keeping with what we have said concerning this, the exegetes have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
ʿAlī related to me, saying: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His saying: الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ ("the Forgiving, the Loving"), he said: the Beloved (al-Ḥabīb).
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning Allah's saying: الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ ("the Forgiving, the Loving"), he said: the Merciful (al-Raḥīm).
