And gardens of dense shrubbery

Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Ibn Idrīs related to us, on the authority of ʿĀṣim ibn Kulayb, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His word وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا ("and densely grown gardens"), that he said: The gardens (al-ḥadāʾiq): that which is intertwined and crowded together.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا , that he said: fragrant and good.
And others said: The gardens (al-ḥadāʾiq): that is the crops of all the trees together.

Abū Hishām related to us, saying: Ibn Fuḍayl related to us, saying: ʿIṣām related to us, on the authority of his father: The gardens: the crops of all the trees.
Muḥammad ibn Sinān al-Qazzāz related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, on the authority of Shabīb, on the authority of ʿIkrima, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās: وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا , he said: the trees beneath which one seeks shade in Paradise (janna).
And others said: No, al-ghulb means: the tall, lofty trees.

ʿAlī related to me, saying: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās: وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا , he says: lofty and tall.
And others said: They are the noble date-palms.

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His word وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا : and al-ghulb are the noble date-palms.
Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His word وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا , that he said: the noble date-palms.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said, concerning His word وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا : the great date-palms with mighty trunks. He said: and al-ghulb among men are those with thick necks; one says: he is aghlab al-raqaba ("thick of neck"), that is: the one with a mighty neck.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of his father, on the authority of ʿIkrima: حَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا , that he said: mighty of midsection.
