The ones with whom you made a treaty but then they break their pledge every time, and they do not fear Allah.

The explanation of His word: الَّذِينَ عَاهَدْتَ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ يَنْقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِي كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ وَهُمْ لا يَتَّقُونَ (56) ("Those with whom you made a covenant, and who thereafter break their covenant every time, and who have no fear of Allah.") (56)

Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose praise is mentioned, says: إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ("Verily, the worst of creatures with Allah are those who disbelieve") — (those with whom you made a covenant), O Muḥammad. He says: from whom you took covenants and solemn agreements that they would not fight you and would not assist anyone who fights you against you, such as the Qurayẓa and their like, between whom and you there was a covenant and an agreement — (and who thereafter break) their covenants and their solemn agreements, every time they made a covenant and an agreement with you, while they fought you and rendered assistance against you; and they do not fear Allah, and they are not afraid, when they do that, that He will strike them with a blow that will root them out and destroy them, as is the case in what follows:

16210 - Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, his word: (those with whom you made a covenant, and who thereafter break their covenant), he said: It was the Qurayẓa; they aided, on the Day of the Trench (al-Khandaq), the enemies of Muḥammad against him.

16211 - Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: Al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Mujāhid, something similar.
