Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are those who have disbelieved, and they will not [ever] believe -

The statement concerning the interpretation of His word: إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَهُمْ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ (55) ("Indeed, the worst of the creatures that crawl upon the earth, in the sight of Allah, are those who disbelieve, for they do not believe" (8:55)).
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: Indeed, the worst of what crawls upon the earth, in the sight of Allah, are those who disbelieve in their Lord, who deny His oneness and worship another besides Him. فَهُمْ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ ("for they do not believe"), He says: they do not believe in the messengers of Allah, and they do not acknowledge His revelation and His sending down.
