This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples.

And His word: ( hādhā yawmu al-faṣli jamaʿnākum wa-l-awwalīn ) ("this is the Day of Separation; We have gathered you and the former peoples") means: the Exalted, glorified be His mention, says to these deniers of the resurrection, on the day they are resurrected: this is the Day of Separation, on which Allah will judge with the truth between His servants. ( jamaʿnākum wa-l-awwalīn ) ("We have gathered you and the former peoples") means: We have gathered you on it for your appointment which We promised you in the worldly life — the bringing together on it between you and all the communities that have passed away before you. Thus have We fulfilled that for you.
