His statement: ( إِنَّ هَذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ ) [Indeed, this is a reminder] means: indeed, this surah is a reminder for whoever lets himself be admonished, takes a lesson, and lets himself be warned.

And in accordance with what we have said about this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His statement: ( إِنَّ هَذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ ) [Indeed, this is a reminder], he said: indeed, this surah is a reminder.

And His statement: ( فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَى رَبِّهِ سَبِيلا ) [So whoever wills may take a path to his Lord] means: so whoever wills, O people, may take a path to the good pleasure of his Lord by acting in obedience to Him, and by adhering to His command and His prohibition.
