Looking at their Lord.

His statement: wujūhun yawmaʾidhin nāḍiratun (faces on that Day will be radiant). The Exalted, glorified is His mention, says: faces on that Day — that is, on the Day of Resurrection — will be radiant. He says: bright and beautiful through bliss. One says of this: naḍura wajhu fulān (the face of so-and-so became radiant), when it becomes bright through favor; and naḍḍara Allāhu wajhahu (Allah made his face radiant), when He thus beautifies it.
The exegetes differed about this. Some said what we have said about it.

Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl al-Bukhārī related to me, saying: Ādam related to us, saying: al-Mubārak related to us, on the authority of al-Ḥasan: wujūhun yawmaʾidhin nāḍiratun he said: bright.
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Wakīʿ related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid: wujūhun yawmaʾidhin nāḍiratun he said: the radiance (nuḍra) of the faces is their beauty.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid, the same.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His statement: wujūhun yawmaʾidhin nāḍiratun he said: al-nāḍira: the prosperous, dwelling in bliss.
Ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to us, saying: Sufyān related to us, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid: wujūhun yawmaʾidhin nāḍiratun he said: the beautiful faces.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Jarīr related to us, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid: wujūhun yawmaʾidhin nāḍiratun he said: from joy, bliss, and contentment.
Others said: rather, the meaning of this is that they are joyful.

Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His statement: wujūhun yawmaʾidhin nāḍiratun he said: joyful, ilā rabbihā nāẓiratun (looking toward her Lord).
The exegetes differed over the interpretation of this. Some said: the meaning of this is that it looks toward its Lord.
